5 tips for an unforgettable walk during White Night 2019 in Košice

This autumn, too, you will be able to experience Košice’s hidden spots in a completely different light thanks to an international festival. On the anniversary of its 10th year, White Night will once again merge historical monuments and famous tourist places together with contemporary art. Come join us for a fun walk through the city at night and satisfy your poetic side. Here’s a selection of various events that you shouldn’t miss this year:

Filthy Luker & Pedro Estrellas: Octopus, Art Attack, Eyes / Kunsthalle, State Theatre Košice, Hlavná Street

This artistic duo from the UK creates inflatable artwork. Hence, don’t be alarmed if you walk around the Kunsthalle and you come across long colourful tentacles protruding from the object; it is a piece from them called Octopus. In addition, they will also “invade” the State Theater with their huge space rocket. Thanks to their work, you will feel like you are part of a sci-fi film.

Listening to live orchestra music while watching a legendary surrealist movie? Košice State Philharmonic and Kino Úsmev will give you the chance to experience this during the upcoming weekend. The filmmakers standing behind this film from 1929 are Salvador Dalí and Luis Buñuel, both prominent representatives of the experimental surrealism movement. Prior to making the film, they agreed that nothing in the film would make sense, and therefore you will see ants crawling out of a palm or a hand laying on the ground.

Explore the majestic St. Elizabeth’s Cathedral thanks to 3D video mapping from visual artists Nano VJs. Their detailed projection will be accompanied by a music set by a local artist Dead Janitor. The west side of this Gothic church will truly become a link between history and the present.

Law of Life: Resistance / VUNU Gallery / 4.10., 5.10. from 19:00 19:00

The multimedia exhibition by the German art group should reflect today’s world, which is too saturated with information and issues from around the world. How can hope demonstrate resistance to stereotypes in such an environment? Come and please not only your aesthetical side but also learn about various world movements over the course of history.
